Tanner De Witt lauded by Who’s Who Legal 2018

17Sep2018

Tanner De Witt has been named by Who’s Who Legal as a Leading Firm for asset recovery in Asia-Pacific – the only firm in the region to receive this accolade.

In addition, the list of leading practitioners for asset recovery in Hong Kong included four of our lawyers: Ian De Witt, Robin Darton, Jeff Lane (as Thought Leader) and Anthony Hill. The list only contains 23 names, so to have four Tanner De Witt lawyers included when other firms only had one or two awardees is very high praise indeed.

Jeff Lane wins widespread recognition from international peers for his work in the asset recovery space, and is highlighted this year as one of the leading practitioners in the region. He is well known for his impressive litigation expertise, particularly when it comes to fraud and investigations.

Ian De Witt focuses his top-tier practice on insolvency and litigation matters and comes highly recommended by market commentators for his excellence in asset recovery and tracing matters.

Lawyers are selected for the rankings based upon a comprehensive, independent survey with both general counsel and private practice lawyers worldwide. Only specialists who have met independent international research criteria are listed.

Asset recovery is not the only area that Tanner De Witt excelled in – Who’s Who’s Restructuring and Insolvency Guide 2018 named Ian De Witt as one of only five Thought Leaders for Restructuring and Insolvency in Hong Kong for 2018.

This edition of the guide brings together for the first time the insight, expertise and wisdom of some of the world’s foremost Restructuring & Insolvency lawyers and economists in a single book. Through thousands of votes and nominations in the course of their research, the market has identified those listen as being among the very best in the world in their field, without exception. Their names are ubiquitous in their own legal spheres and, in many cases, transcend them.

About Who’s Who Legal

Since 1996, Who’s Who Legal has identified the foremost legal practitioners in multiple areas of business law. In total, this site features over 24,000 of the world’s leading private practice lawyers and 2,500 consulting experts from over 150 national jurisdictions. The publication prides themselves on the integrity and authority of their findings. It is impossible to buy entry into this publication.

Their service is designed to reduce the short-term costs incurred in finding a lawyer, but more significantly to minimise the transactional expense and risk of receiving poor counsel. They act as a reference source for companies seeking to corroborate the reputations of expert lawyers recommended by another party. However, because referrals are often lateral, they also aim to create a network among the lawyers listed, who will know the ablest lawyers in their own practice area, but may not be so familiar with other fields and countries in interdisciplinary and international transactions.

Following the success of the international publications, Who’s Who Legal also publishes a series of special reports. These go into greater depth in local markets identifying the leading individuals across a number of practice areas, as well as providing further in-depth editorial analysis of each area and a breakdown of the leading firms overall.
