An accomplished legal professional, Veronica has earned notable recognition, including being named a Thought Leader in restructuring and insolvency by Lexology Index and recognised as a key lawyer in Legal 500’s Restructuring & Insolvency practice area. She has also received the Women to Watch award from Global Restructuring Review (2023), the IFLR1000 Rising Star Award Asia-Pacific (2022), and the Rising Star Award from the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) in 2021, after placing as a semi-finalist in 2020. Her legal acumen spans a broad spectrum of matters, with a focus on bankruptcy, restructuring and insolvency proceedings.

In her practice, Veronica excels in the areas ranging from bankruptcy to cross-border insolvency proceedings, where she represents a wide range of clients, including liquidators, receivers, creditors, and directors. Beyond this, her capability extends to general commercial litigation, where she handles shareholders’ disputes, commercial contracts, and contentious matters related to intellectual property, with a special focus on trademark disputes. Veronica has a wealth of experience in representing liquidators in high-stakes scenarios, particularly those involving significant bond defaults and subsequent reversals. She has a proven track record in managing cases that involve intellectual property assets within the framework of insolvency proceedings.

Although she does not practice PRC law, Veronica, a Mandarin-speaking Hong Kong lawyer, maintains a robust network of contacts in Mainland China and has managed numerous cases involving PRC elements.

Veronica served as the International Vice Program Director of IWIRC in 2024 and 2025 and remains committed to advancing and promoting the professional standing of female practitioners in the restructuring and insolvency field. She has served on the IWIRC Hong Kong Network Board since 2017 and has held a number of key regional and international roles within IWIRC. She has also been accepted into the International Insolvency Institute (III) NextGen Program, reinforcing the firm’s presence within this prestigious global association.

Veronica completed her law degree at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, followed by her Legal Practice Course diploma at the College of Law, London. She completed her Postgraduate Certificates in Law at the University of Hong Kong.

  • Bio-Medical Engineering (HK) Limited (in creditors voluntary liquidation) involving intellectual property assets.
  • Acting for the liquidators (KPMG) of Green Elite Limited (in liquidation in the BVI) on various proceedings associated with its liquidation.
  • Acted for KPMG as the liquidators of Guangdong International Trust & Investment Corporation
  • Hong Kong (Holdings) Limited (In Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations) (“GITIC”).
  • Acted for the liquidators (KPMG) of OW Bunker China in its liquidation.
  • MF Global, a major global financial derivatives broker, or commodities brokerage firm.
  • Advising the receivers (the then Borelli Walsh Limited) of a majority of the shares of a Hong Kong parent company to pursue an indemnity claim against the directors of the subsidiary Chinese country club owner that accuses them of racking up excessive costs, after the claim was preserved on appeal by a Hong Kong court.
  • Acted for the liquidators (Grant Thornton) on the liquidation of STX, one of the largest dry bulk carriers around the world.
  • Acted for the liquidators (Grant Thornton) of Dragon Spirits Ltd (“DSL”), involving intellectual property assets.
  • Acting for the security agent (Shinewing Specialist Advisory Servies Limited) for bondholders and the receivers and managers of the security of Kuiburi Limited and Eternal Cheerful Limited, involving 35 series of issued bonds.
  • Acted for Shinewing Specialist Advisory Services Limited as the receivers of certain assets of Mr Pan Sutong
  • Advised on the bankruptcy of Dr. Sit Kwong Lam, the former Chairman and indirect controlling shareholder of Brightoil Petroleum (Holdings) Limited.
  • Acting for a multibillion US dollar business, Micro-Pak Limited, which is the global leading supplier of anti-microbial materials in relation to its trademark registrations worldwide.
  • Acting for market leading local jewellery brand in its multiple trademark disputes.
  • Advised Electric Sekki Limited in its group restructuring and the liquidation of its certain entities.
