Biography
Stephanie is an associate in our Corporate and Commercial and TMT Practice, having joined Tanner De Witt in September 2021 as a Trainee Solicitor.
She has extensive experience advising on a wide range of corporate matters, including drafting documentations and advising on due diligence, subscription and investment agreements, shareholder agreements, and completion of investment rounds.
She has also assisted and advised on a broad spectrum of TMT matters and documents, such as data privacy, governance, and management, terms and conditions of use and service, privacy policies, data breach advice, and telecommunications advice. In addition, she has advised on numerous venture capital transactions involving companies in the technology sector.
Her practice further encompasses assisting PRC clients, as well as high net-worth clients with assets across multiple jurisdictions, with estate planning, wills, and probate matters.
She earned her PCLL and Juris Doctor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, a Master of Arts at King’s College London, and a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Politics and Public Administration at The University of Hong Kong.
Stephanie is a native Cantonese speaker, and fluent in English, Mandarin and Hokkien.
Biography
- Advised the investor on its Series A investment in a data analytics and business intelligence company with operations across more than eight jurisdictions in Southeast Asia.
- Assisted and advised on Bowtie Life Insurance’s US$70 million Series C financing round with Sun Life Hong Kong Limited.
- Advised a global professional service firm on response to data breach and potential consequences under privacy and other legislation.
- Advised on data transfer, sharing and processing arrangements in respect of sharing of personal data between group companies or among collaborating businesses.
- Strategic advice on responses to Privacy Commissioner enquiries in relation to alleged data collection, use and security issues and data breaches.
- Advised on various privacy impact assessments in respect of introduction of business projects using personal data (including sensitive personal data) for international and multinational businesses.
- Advised a multinational car manufacturer acting as lead counsel in respect of a multi-jurisdiction data processing agreement review project.
- Advised on Hong Kong data transfer laws and coordinate with PRC counsel to advise on the Hong Kong law implications of the PRC Personal Information Protection Law.
- Advised in respect of several transfer impact assessments in respect of rights of access of enforcement authorities in Hong Kong to personal data exported from the UK and EEA to Hong Kong for international and multinational businesses.
- Advised and assisted PRC and high net worth clients with assets in multiple jurisdictions (including Hong Kong) in the preparation of their Wills.
- Acting for the administrator, a child of the deceased based in the PRC, in applying for a grant of letters of administration for the estate of the deceased, who died domiciled in the PRC without a will.
