Tanner De Witt was pleased to support the Pathfinders Annual Ball held at Ed1tus in Wong Chuk Hang on Saturday 21st November. Partners and heads of our family practice Mark Side and Joanne Brown attended to show support for this charity fundraiser which raised a total of HK$2.7m.
We are delighted to provide pro bono legal services for Hong Kong based charity Pathfinders as part of our ongoing support for the local community. Pathfinders does tremendous work for foreign migrant workers and their children in Hong Kong. You may read our recent article on the fair and legal employment of foreign migrant workers here. Tanner De Witt is also proud to have been awarded a Bronze Award by The Law Society of Hong Kong for its pro bono services this year; the awards ceremony will be held at the High Court on Friday 4th December.
Led by CEO Kay McArdle and driven by a shared vision where every migrant child born in Hong Kong has a fair start in life, Pathfinders empowers mothers to make informed life decisions and find a dignified path toward a safe and legal future. They give migrant mothers the tools to understand their rights and to meet their legal obligations, which can involve guiding them through their return home, changes in their visa status so they can legally remain in Hong Kong or choosing adoption for their child.
Pathfinders removes mothers and children from immediate danger and provides them with access to critical services and support networks helping them to build their confidence through educational and skills training programs so that they can make long-term, sustainable plans for them and their children.
