Tanner De Witt launches Public Interest and Equal Rights (PIER) Group

11Mar2016

Tanner De Witt is pleased to announce the imminent launch of new practice area Public Interest and Equal Rights (PIER) Group.

The objective of the Public Interest and Equal Rights (PIER) Group is to provide access to justice and to use the legal system to promote public good through individual cases. The PIER Group specialises in issue-oriented work such as civil rights litigation, discrimination, LGBT equality rights, child protection and medical malpractice. Many of our cases are not single issue cases but engage several legal issues across a number of practice areas that can include criminal, family, employment, immigration and bankruptcy or insolvency. In such cases, PIER Group’s advantage is its ability to draw on the existing breadth and depth of experience at Tanner De Witt and engage any of the firm’s other practice areas.

This department will be headed by Partner Mark Side and will cover the following areas of law:

1.    Civil litigation
2.    Migrant workers’ issues
3.    Women and children’s law
4.    Civil rights litigation
5.    Policy work
