Job Description

Tanner De Witt is an established independent business law firm based in Hong Kong with more than 45 fee earners (including 15 partners). The firm has an international client base with a prominent practice, including Tier 1/Band 1 Restructuring & Insolvency / Tier 1/Band 2 Employment / highly awarded Litigation, Fraud and Asset Tracing and Corporate/M&A practices.

The Marketing and Business Development Manager is responsible for firm wide marketing and business development across all practice areas reporting directly to the Partners. This is a senior role for a candidate in a marketing or business development focussed role. Candidates must have at least five years’ experience at manager level with experience leading a team, preferably in a professional services firm environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead marketing activities across the various practice areas;
  • Launch and design marketing plans to support those activities;
  • Manage and assist in developing local and international business and legal contact networks;
  • Negotiate sponsorship deals;
  • Client relationship management
  • Working with fee-earners to prepare pitch documentation to develop new business;
  • Submission drafting for legal directories;
  • Process media requests and make appropriate recommendations;
  • Research thought leadership opportunities;
  • Responsibility for internal and external client events, conferences and seminars;
  • Assist with internal training and development programmes;
  • Train and coach fee earners on individual business development plans;
  • Responsibility for management of external communications;
  • Responsibility for brand guidelines.

Requirements / Experience

  • Strategic and tactical marketing and/or business development experience; experience working in a professional services environment is preferable;
  • Client service focussed, able to effectively manage a team and work independently;
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, strong drafting skills;
  • Chinese language is not essential;
  • Multi-tasker, flexible mind-set, positive approach, effective negotiation skills and a good team player;
  • Excellent copy writing and computer skills;
  • Able to plan, forecast, manage and report budgets.
