Prior to joining Tanner De Witt, Marthinus was employed as an associate attorney in the litigation team of Africa’s largest law firm. Previously, Marthinus worked as in-house legal counsel for financial services firms in Hong Kong. Marthinus has experience acting for clients on a broad range of matters in civil and commercial litigation and mediation, including contractual disputes, debt recovery, family disputes, employment disputes and urgent interlocutory applications

Having read law at The University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, Marthinus obtained his Master of Laws at The University of Cape Town. He was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2018. Marthinus passed the 2021 Hong Kong Overseas Lawyers Qualification Exams and was subsequently admitted as a Hong Kong solicitor in 2022. He is fluent in English and Afrikaans.
