Richard Tanner was born and educated in England, has an honours degree in mathematics and began his legal career in 1975. After qualifying as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1978, he spent several years as a legal adviser at the London-based 3i Group, Europe's largest venture capital organisation.
In 1985 Richard moved to Hong Kong where he joined a local law firm and became a partner shortly thereafter. He later became a partner in a City of London international law firm and worked in its Hong Kong office for almost 10 years, practising company and commercial law.
Richard acts for local and overseas clients. He has advised upon joint-venture structures in a variety of sectors including telecommunications, fashion, hospitality, investment, electronics and distribution in China. His work encompasses assisting clients in the establishment of new businesses and new business relationships. His years in England as a venture capital solicitor give him a valuable insight into the needs of developing businesses and the needs of potential investors in them. He helps clients to acquire, run and dispose of businesses.
Ian De Witt
Ian De Witt was born in Wales and obtained an honours degree in law in London. After qualifying as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1989, he joined and became a partner in a prominent London law firm where he worked for many years.
In 1996 Ian qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong and worked at a City of London international law firm. He is admitted as a lawyer in several other jurisdictions including the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, New South Wales and Queensland.
Ian acts for the Hong Kong office of the world's international airline industry trade association, which groups together almost 270 airlines and he has been involved in advising on a variety of regulatory and litigation matters.
Throughout his career, Ian has concentrated on commercial litigation, including debt recovery work, and his caseload includes contractual, construction, negligence and technology matters. He has also acted and advised in a variety of insolvency cases, acting for liquidators, receivers, creditors and directors.
Mark Side
Mark Side was born in England, studied philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford University and is a commercial litigation solicitor. He was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1986 and worked in the City of London before moving to Hong Kong in 1992.
After qualifying as a solicitor in Hong Kong, Mark worked at two City of London international law firms. Before joining Tanner De Witt, Mark headed the litigation department of one of Hong Kong's largest law firms.
Mark has conducted one of the largest cases in Hong Kong concerning the extent of a barrister's professional duty, which generated litigation in Hong Kong, England and various courts in the United States of America. For a number of years Mark conducted litigation in Hong Kong for a major Chinese bank and handled cases concerning letters of credit and the extent of a banker's duty of care to non-customers.
Mark's caseload has enabled him to make valuable contacts with forensic, accounting and professional expert witnesses.
Robin Darton
Robin Darton was born in England and obtained an honours degree in law at the University of Southampton in 1988. Robin qualified as a solicitor in 1991 in the City of London, where he continued to practise until 1994. Robin then moved to Hong Kong where he worked at one of Hong Kong's largest law firms for a number of years before becoming a partner at the Hong Kong office of a large international firm. Robin joined Tanner De Witt as a partner in April 2005.
Since qualification, Robin has acted for a broad range of clients in contentious matters, principally in the field of insolvency, banking and international trade. In particular, Robin has been involved in the court-related aspects of a number of Asia's highest profile restructurings and has acted on a number of occasions for a major bank in relation to recovery and insolvency matters.
Robin's practice has enabled him to maintain contacts with a number of other professionals, in particular insolvency practitioners and lawyers from other jurisdictions.
Russell Bennett
Russell qualified in England and Wales in 1993 and in Hong Kong in 1996. Russell acts for both employers and employees, with particular emphasis on high-value employment disputes in the financial sector. He advises on all aspects of employment law, drafting employment contracts, handbooks and other HR related documentation as well as Health and Safety matters, especially in the construction industry. In addition he has considerable experience in liquidation, insolvency and restructuring matters.
Russell is a frequent speaker to lawyers, accountants, and business and human-resources professionals, on employment and insolvency matters.
Gregory Payne
Greg joined Tanner De Witt as a Consultant in 2006. He was admitted in South Australia in 1992, to the High Court of Australia in 1994, in England and Wales in 1994, in Hong Kong in 1994 and in Tasmania in 2003. He has practised in Hong Kong, in the civil and commercial litigation area, both as a solicitor in private practice and as a Senior Government Counsel with the Department of Justice.
Anthony Hill
Anthony joined Tanned De Witt as a Consultant in 2007 and has practised in Hong Kong for more than 18 years. A strength of Anthony's practice is his specialist insolvency skills, where he has acted for leading insolvency practitioners in contentious insolvency matters. Complementing this is his considerable experience in commercial litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, not only in Hong Kong but also in China and other Asian jurisdictions.
Kim Boreham
Kim has extensive experience advising clients on all aspects of commercial litigation from commencement through to resolution, with emphasis on insolvency, insurance and employment-related disputes. She has appeared regularly in the Courts of both Hong Kong and New Zealand and in an international arbitration in Hong Kong. She was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand in 1997, and as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 2001 and England and Wales in 2002.
Norman Hau
Norman joined Tanner De Witt and qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong in early 2005 after completing his traineeship in an international law firm. Norman is a litigator focusing on insolvency related matters. Norman advises on all aspects of law and procedure in relation to debt recovery actions, liquidation and bankruptcy proceedings, obtaining injunctions and shareholders' disputes.
Eddie Look
Eddie qualified in British Columbia, Canada in 1998 and in Hong Kong in 2001. He specialises in corporate and commercial work, with a particular focus on assisting clients establish and develop business in both Hong Kong and the PRC. He advises on the structure of businesses, incorporating companies, and negotiating shareholder agreements. He also deals with tenancies, employment agreements, agreements required by the business (which may include distribution, franchise, or manufacturing agreements), and protection of the business including registration of trademarks.
Jennifer Tsang
Jennifer graduated in the United Kingdom at King's College London with an honours degree in Bachelor of Laws. After completing her Postgraduate Certificate in Laws in the University of Hong Kong, Jennifer started her training contract in a corporate finance law firm and joined Tanner De Witt subsequently as a trainee solicitor.
Edmond Leung
Edmond holds an LLB from the University of Exeter and was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2001. Edmond joined Tanner De Witt in March 2007. Prior to this he was a solicitor with a prominent UK law firm advising clients from institutions to owner-managed businesses operating in a wide range of industries.
Nicolas Chan
Nicolas joined Tanner De Witt in August 2008, having completed his traineeship at another well-known Hong Kong law firm. He gained his Bachelor of Laws and Postgraduate Certificate in Laws at the University of Hong Kong.
Pamela Mak Lai Yee
Before joining Tanner De Witt, Pamela worked at two major local law firms where she practised mainly banking litigation and insolvency litigation. She joined Tanner De Witt in 2003 and she focuses on general commercial litigation with emphasis on shareholders' disputes.
Candy Wong
Candy joined Tanner De Witt in September 2008, having completed her traineeship at another Hong Kong law firm. She holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Hong Kong.
Cosina Mar
Cosina joined Tanner De Witt as a Trainee Solicitor in September 2008, having completed the Graduate Diploma in Law at the College of Law, London. She has a BS degree in Cognitive Science (Psychology) from the University of California San Diego.
Peggy Mak
Peggy joined Tanner De Witt as a Trainee Solicitor in September 2008, having attained a Master of Law (Commercial and Corporate Law) at University College, London. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales.
Rachel Cheng
Rachel joined Tanner De Witt as a Trainee Solicitor in September 2008, having completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Law at Manchester Metropolitan University. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Social Science (Law & Public Affairs) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Prudence Tai
Prudence joined Tanner De Witt as a trainee solicitor in June 2007. She completed her LLB degree and PCLL at the University of Hong Kong, after which she spent ten months at Electrolux AB in Sweden working on Sarbanes Oxley compliance. Subsequently she completed placements at two local law firms and also worked in the legal and compliance departments of two multinational corporations.
Cammie Leung
Cammie joined Tanner De Witt as a trainee Solicitor in September 2009. She holds an LLB from the University of Hong Kong.
River Stone
River joined Tanner De Witt as a trainee Solicitor in September 2009. He holds an LLB in Law and English from the Shanghai International Studies University and a JD from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Jonathan Gray
Jonathan joined Tanner De Witt in 2009, prior to which he worked at the Hong Kong office of a well-known international firm. His main areas of practice are general commercial litigation and arbitration, including professional liability, insurance, contentious employment and judicial review matters.
Naveen Qureshi
Naveen joined Tanner De Witt as a trainee solicitor in September 2007 after completing her Postgraduate Certificate in Laws at Hong Kong University. She completed her LLB degree at University College London and has worked in the Personal Injury and Insurance department of a local Hong Kong firm of solicitors.

Natalie De Renzy-Martin
Natalie joined Tanner De Witt in 2010 having worked as a solicitor in the Employment department of a leading London law firm. She trained at the London office of a Magic Circle firm where she qualified in 2007.
