Experience

Jan Johannsson joined Tanner De Witt in 2010 after spending several years at international firms both in Vietnam, where he specialised in banking and finance matters including major infrastructure finance transactions, and in Australia, where he had a wide range of experience of real estate, banking and finance, infrastructure and property funds.

Jan is a graduate of Monash University, where he was awarded a BA and LLB (hons).

Jan speaks fluent Czech and French.

Representative Engagements
(prior to joining Tanner De Witt)
  • Acting as lender's counsel on many cross-border lending transactions including more than a dozen inter-bank loans to financial institutions across Asia.
  • Acting for the lead arranger on the cross-border syndicated financing of a port development project in Vietnam.
  • Acting for a borrower taking out a cross-border syndicated loan from a consortium of commercial banks in order to finance a port development project in Vietnam.
  • Acting as counsel for the lead manager and book runner on the issue of fixed-rate bonds by a major Vietnamese commercial bank.
  • Acting for the lead arranger and agent on a cross-border syndicated loan for the financing of a waste disposal facility in Vietnam.

  • Second edition of the Australian text Mortgagee's Power of Sale, published by Butterworths in 2004;
  • The Vietnam chapter of the second edition of Financial Services Regulation in Asia Pacific, published by Oxford University Press in 2008.
