Vision and Values
The founding partners, Richard Tanner, Ian De Witt and Mark Side, shared a common vision - to establish a firm that enhanced all that was best in the provision of legal services. We have no intention of developing a general practice firm but took the view that we should focus on our own spheres of experience and leave others to work on theirs. Thus our Business Law in Asia theme was born. Our approach is to combine a first class legal service with a personal, practical and versatile style. We decline work and refer it to others in the profession if we feel that a partner does not have the necessary experience in the appropriate area of law to handle it skillfully and cost effectively. This has served to enhance our credibility with clients and has earned us a reputation of integrity in the legal community.
Culture and Environment
Many lawyers spend much of their working lives within cultures established by others and the partners of TDW are no exception. In forming our firm, we wanted to draw the best from what we had experienced and place it within an environment of our own choosing. The best computer equipment, library and research facilities were all prerequisites but we wanted more than this - an environment where clients are comfortable and happy to visit; a place where the staff of the firm are comfortable and pleased to spend their working time.
Our Style
When you step into the offices of TDW, you know instantly that you are in a legal firm with a difference. The use of Chinese wooden screens to give the offices a warm feeling is the first impact. The perfectly brewed coffee, and the meeting rooms with their unusual artifacts from around Asia show you immediately that this is a firm where detail counts. Sit back, explain your needs, and watch as we take over and find solutions to your legal dilemmas.
